Question asked by Jennifer: BRCA1 and BRCA2 test?
My doctor recommended the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genetic testing for me because I have a long family history of breast cancer. What do you think about these tests? Has anybody ever had them?

I can’t offer any experience about the testing, but having had breast cancer (non-hereditary) I think being tested if there is a possibility that you have inherited one of the genes is essential.

The reason I’m replying is to suggest you visit one or both of these sites; as well as having loads of information (especially the first one), they have forums where you can talk to and read the experiences of women who are going through and have been through exactly the same thing. If you ask your question on these forums you will get more replies, and replies that are well-informed:

Good luck with your decisions; I hope any testing has good results
